Seagate PC Hard Drive Do Work on Mac Computers!

Just a few days ago, I went to Wal-Mart because I saw that they had a deal on Seagate hard drives. My MacBook has been losing space by the day with all the video files I have and I knew it was time to get an external portable hard drive. Once I saw that you could get a 320GB hard drive for $69.00 I was happy! And not to mention, they had it in a lime green color! When I saw the color, I knew I had to have it!

The problem was that when we got there, I looked at the package and noticed that it was for PC, and didn’t mention Mac anywhere!

Disappointed, I left Wal-Mart without getting my lime green hard drive that I wanted so much. I then realized while we were at another store about formatting the hard drive. So then I got on my iPhone and started looking to see if I could get this PC hard drive to work on my Mac!

I finally found the solution! It is possible to reformat your PC hard drive and use it on your Mac! Right on seagate’s website it says that the only difference between the Mac and PC hard drives is that they are already pre formatted. So you just have to reformat it to work with your system!

If there are any of you out there wanting this hard drive, go get it! It is definitely worth it. Make sure to come back for a follow up post where I tell you how to reformat your drive!

Just Bought the Canon Vixia HF M30!

Here it is! I have been waiting patiently for it! My parents wanted to get it for me because all of my grades were above 90% in each class. I went to get it last week but they were sold out so I got it now!

I am posting this from my iPhone right now in the car, so I can’t wait to get home and unbox it and start making some videos!

A full overview and review will be coming soon!

Apple’s New iPad

It is finally here, a tablet for the Mac generation! It is called the iPad! At first glance, this is simply just a big iPod Touch, and that is basically what it is. On Wednesday, January 27, Apple held a keynote event to launch their new product. I was writing my finals, so I get to go home after I finish and I made it home in time to follow what was happening at the keynote. When I first saw iPad, I wasn’t too impressed, I was expecting more from Apple. Maybe it was just because I had such high expectations, but to me, this isn’t really as magical and worshipful as Apple claims it to be. But after a few minutes it started to grow on me. It really is a cool new product that has a lot of special and not so special features.

iBook Store:

This is probably the feature of the new iPad that appeals to me the most. This iPad now has a thing on it called the “iBook Store” and what that is, is basically a iTunes store for music, but with books. This allows you to buy all the books you want to be able to read them on the new 9.7″ screen. This feature basically makes this iPad the new Kindle. With that being said, the Kindle will sure lose their buyers once the iPad does come out.

iWork:

This is another one of the good feature of this new iPad. Once it is released, you will be able to buy the 3 parts of iWork for your iPad at just $9.99 each. With that you will be able to process in “Pages”, have some numeric fun in “Numbers”, and make kick ass presentations in “Keynote”. I have seen pictures from Apple’s event, and when they were demoing the iWork part, it looked really, really good. If you are going to get this iPad, you should definitely get the iWork suite.

Design:

The high-resolution, 9.7-inch LED-backlit IPS display on iPad is remarkably crisp and vivid. The Multi-Touch screen on iPad is based on the same revolutionary technology on iPhone. But the technology has been completely reengineered for the larger iPad surface, making it extremely precise and responsive. So whether you’re zooming in on a map, flicking through your photos, or deleting an email, iPad responds with incredible accuracy. And it does just what you want it to. So overall, it’s slightly smaller than a magazine. At just 1.5 pounds and 0.5 inch thin, you can take it anywhere. And a slight curve to the back makes it easy to pick up and comfortable to hold. You can use iPad for up to 10 hours while surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching videos, or listening to music.

Availability:

iPad is available with a choice of 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of flash storage, giving you lots of room for your photos, movies, music, apps, and more. You can either get a iPad model with just Wifi, or with 3G and Wifi. Both of these models come in the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions. As for when these become available, the Wifi only models will ship in 60 days, and the Wifi + 3G models will ship in 90 days.

Pricing:

For the pricing, the Wifi models pricing is as follows:

Wifi 16GB – $499.00

Wifi 32GB – $599.00

Wifi 64GB – $699.00

Wifi + 3G pricing is as follows:

Wifi + 3G  16GB – $629.00

Wifi + 3G 32GB – $729.00

Wifi + 3G 64GB – $829.00

Overall Thoughts:

Like I said in the beginning, I wasn’t too impressed with this new invention, but I am starting to like it. I think it looks really nice, and I like the way they incorporated the iBookstore and eBooks into this, it will make great competition for the Kindle. I will have to think long and hard about whether I should get this new iPad because I have things that do most of these tasks already. But you never know, I might end up getting one!

An Apple Christmas!

This Christmas was so great! I did get my iPhone 3GS! It is the 16GB White version, and I love it! I was unbelievably excited when I opened up one of my presents and inside was that iPhone! Now I will definitely have lots more things to blog and make videos about. I will have lots of App reviews, case reviews and many things like that.

I also got an Apple Universal Dock for Christmas and it’s so great because I can charge my iPhone, sync it and have a place to sit it when I am in bed. Not knowing that my iPhone came with a dock connector cable, or just standard cable, my mom bought one for me anyway, but I’m not going to open it unless I need it.

For Christmas, I also got the new Apple Remote so now I can use it to control my iPhone and Macbook. Along with that, I got lots of iTunes gift cards so I can buy lots of music, movies, and tv shows for my iPhone! The only thing I am disappointed in is that in the Canadian iTunes Store, you can’t buy apps with your gift card balance, you need to have a credit card. I do have a credit card so It won’t really be a problem but it would just have been much more easier if I could buy it with my store credit.

Along with some clothes, and DVD’s, books and other things, I had a really great Christmas! I also got $200 from my parents to just go shopping with, and I am pretty sure I want to get a MobileMe account, but I would love it if you would leave me a comment telling me what I should buy with that money. Particularly items iPhone related, so if you have some suggestions for a really good case or something like that, let me know!

I hope you all had a great Christmas! Leave me a comment telling me what you got this year!

Apple’s New “Magic Mouse”

Picture 5Today Apple also released a brand new mouse, from the previous Mighty Mouse, to the new Magic Mouse. This mouse is an amazing invention. Using the same technologies that are in the iPhone, iPod touch, and Macbook Pro trackpads, this mouse is completely operated using gestures.

Here is a little excerpt right from Apple: “The Multi-Touch area covers the top surface of Magic Mouse, and the mouse itself is the button. Scroll in any direction with one finger, swipe through web pages and photos with two, and click and double-click anywhere. Inside Magic Mouse is a chip that tells it exactly what you want to do. Which means Magic Mouse won’t confuse a scroll with a swipe. It even knows when you’re just resting your hand on it.”

The new Magic mouse uses laser tracking to give you a better response no matter what surface it is on, even without a mouse pad. It is a Bluetooth device which can be paired with any bluetooth enabled macintosh computer. It comes standard on all new iMac computers but for those who just want it for their Macbook or just to have a spare, it will cost you a price of $69, which in my opinion is a great deal for this technologically advanced mouse.

System Requirements

  • Bluetooth-enabled Mac computer
  • Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later with Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0
  • Existing keyboard and mouse for setup

Courier: Microsofts New Tablet?

tablet

The Courier is a real device, and it’s in the “late prototype” stage. It has two 7-inch screens and they are multitouch, and designed for writing, flicking and drawing with a stylus, in addition to fingers. It has a hinge that holds it together with a home button that looks like the iPhones’. Wireless signal and battery life, are displayed along the rim of one of the screens and on the back cover is a camera.

There is not much information on it right now, but I will keep you updated as more things are revealed. For now, you can click here to watch a video of what the Courier can do. It is a must see!

What’s In My Bag?

IMG_1430

Recently, I was looking on Engadget.com and found something that was really interesting. The concept to this “what’s in my bag” is that you take your laptop bag and take everything out that you have, arrange it in a nice order and snap a picture of it. One thing you can do with this picture is send it to your friends and ask them what’s in their bag, or you can send it to Engadget. But what most people are doing is uploading it to a group on Flickr where you can add notes to your picture so when they scrole over it, it tells them what the item is. I thought this was a great idea! So I decided to take part in it. Here is a link to my photo in the group on Flickr but I will also be posting the contents of my bag right here on this post. If you have the time, go for it and take a quick picture, I find it really interesting seeing what other people have in their laptop bags for technology and gadgets!
